Word is that knees can knock out keys and heavy keychains can turn off your car. I put my car under the knife to see if I'm at risk.

Results: I'm not at risk, but now I've bruised my knee on my ignition.

Our local GM dealer is overwhelmed with Cobalts, HHRs and Ions. They have a whole extra parking lot full of them waiting to be repaired. I didn't see any G5s, Solstices, or Skies, but I'm sure they've had some.

I stopped in to ask a tech a question about my grandmother's Cadillac and they didn't even have time for anything other than fixing these things. They aren't even doing warranty work on other cars right now.

If I push a button labeled "eng|met" then the speedometer (and everything else in the car) will switch to metric, and 140kph is about 86mph, which is the fastest you'd be going on an American highway anyways.

The top speed of the car is actual 107mph electronically limited.

I really don't see where this is reason for a recall. To have you knee even mildly close to the key, you'd have to be either the size of Shaq, sit in a really awkward and dangerous seating position, or have your foot off the gas fucking around like an idiot. This is more a case of personal responsibility for your own safety than an engineering fault.

So what you are saying is that you'd pretty much have to drive with your leg over the steering wheel to turn your car off with your knee. Totes normal driving position lol

Unfortunately, our society feels the need to idiot-proof everything, so we have shit like this that wastes GM's, dealers', and consumers' time, energy and money.

More car manufacturers need to put it up at the top of the steering column like that. Also keeps things dangling from my keychain from knocking against my knee.

Note, Texans on the interstate regularly exceed 90, especially on that 85 stretch between Austin and San Antonio
